The night was like any other Christmas Eve.  The night sky had chilled the air, the fire was lightly crackling as it warmed the hearth, and the family had gathered for the exchange of gifts.  As the night came to a close and the fire began to smolder, warmth from another source was beginning to ignite.  

His heart was racing as he pulled her aside, but kept her in the center; for this was their night.  This was a night for memories to be created and dreams to be fulfilled.  He dropped to one knee as he removed the small box that held so many promises he hopes he can keep in the distant future.  He knows these promises are not lightly taken nor given which is why he chose such a solemn evening.  His heart was pounding as he eaked out the question to gain her heart for the rest of his life.  

She is beside herself in shock.  Of all the days and all the times he could ask, why tonight?  Without missing a beat, her response was in the affirmative.  The embrace they shared was long, tears filled their eyes as they found themselves someone to compliment the other so perfectly.  Truly, happiness has reigned down from above.
